Drilling Procedure

Thinking about a water bore for your home, farm or business in Victoria? Here is how a bore project runs with Aquarius, from the first phone call to water coming out of the tap.

1. Site assessment and quote. We look at your property, nearby bore records and the likely aquifer depth, and quote the drilling, casing and screen, bore development and – if you want it – the pump and any treatment. 2. Licence. In Victoria a bore construction licence is required before drilling; it is issued by your rural water corporation (for Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Gippsland and the Geelong region that is Southern Rural Water). Domestic and stock bores normally do not need a take-and-use licence; irrigation and commercial bores do. We help with the paperwork. 3. Drilling and construction. The bore is drilled by a licensed driller, cased and screened to suit the ground, then developed and flow-tested so we know the standing water level, drawdown and sustainable yield. 4. Bore log and water sample. You receive a copy of the bore log and a water analysis – the two documents that decide which pump and treatment you need. 5. Pump installation. We size and install a submersible bore pump with run-dry protection and connect it to your tank or irrigation. 6. Water treatment. If the sample shows salinity, iron, hardness or bacteria, we recommend and install the right treatment – desalination, iron treatment, softening or disinfection.
