Iron and iron bacteria are the number one reason bore pumps in Victoria lose pressure and flow. Iron in the groundwater oxidises, bacteria feed on it and, together with calcium, they build a red-brown sludge that plugs the pump impellers, bore screen and pipework. Aquarius treats this with CIB – an acid-based powder treatment that re-dissolves the calcium, breaks the iron bond and kills the bacteria in the bore, without pulling the pump. We can supply the CIB with instructions for you to dose yourself, or carry out the bore clean-up for you, and most bores only need it about once a year.

We now have a chemical that contains Acid as a base. The treatment is a powder that is quite powerful and is designed to re-dissolve calcium and brake the bond with the iron, kill the bacteria.
It will quite quickly clean up bore pumps, bore screens and plumbing if used as instructions. We have now used this product (CIB) on extensively over the years. It is low cost and very effective.
This treatment may have to be applied at least annually and is generally a lot simpler and quicker the successive times applied.
